Fender Nate Mendel P-bass Sound Clips

Hi!

I recorded some soundclips of my Nate Mendel Signature Precision Bass today and got them up on YouTube. Check'em out if you like and tell me what you think:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d49Ec0V6dCk

Here's a link to a review I wrote on them when it was a 'NBD': NBD! Fender Nate Mendel Signature Precision!

Thanks all!

(BTW, most people say the SD QP-pickup is scooped, but it doesn't sound scooped to me. If it does to you, say so. )

Nice, thanks for posting!

If I ever have some pesky cash to get rid of, I'd probably drop it on one of those; seems like a no-nonsense old-school P.

Except for the BAII and the SPB-3, wich give it all quite a modern vibe, IMO.

But does it sound scooped to you?

It does sound on the scooped side... but I'm a flatwound guy so just about anything else tends to sound scooped to me

Does the BAII seem offer noticeably more sustain to you? (as opposed to a standard Fender bridge)

Yeah definitely! I has increased a lot, IMO. Any PU's out there that will get me a less scooped sound, if you know any?

I can tell you whatever they put in the new American Vintage models (60s Custom Shop Split Coil, I think) has plenty of juicy mids.

Nice demo here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lknXddP_L4E

I think so... the specs on the Fender site say "Vintage Split Coil".

They would be the new PUPs wound especially for that new AV model, not the Originals, which also sound great.

I don't think they are available after-market yet.
