So, i LOVE my T-20... but lately, my main basses have been a Mustang and a Jazz. As such, my hands have gotten more use to a smaller/thinner neck.
I miss the growly depth of the T-20, but it's neck is very wide... almost as wide as my 5 string. It also has a bit of a bow, just adding to its non-playabillity.
I would love to get a more standard Jazz sized neck and put it on there, but before i go drop some $$ on a used/Warmoth/AllParts/MightyMite neck, i was wondering if anyone else had done a neck swap, and if the heel fits. If not, how much routing/shimming must be done?
Thanks!!

If so, the it's likely the same as a T-40 neck, the the heel is actually narrower than a Fender neck pocket, so you'd have to mod the Fender neck heel to get it to fit. It would work, but won't be a drop in replacement.

A lil' back info: When i first got the T-20, the T-20 neck was cracked. So, i actually tried both a T-40 AND T-45 neck. Neither was an exact fit. Being the more nieve bassist i was, i thought i needed an exact fit. So i eventually found a replacement T-20 neck.
But as time goes on, play styles change/evolve. So, while i dug the chunky fat T-20 neck when i just played root-notey punk stuff, these days, i play much more dynamically, and have grown accustom to the necks on my afformentioned Jazz and Mustang.
A DIFFERENT Peavey neck is a thought though! However, my experience on Peaveys stops after 80's models... and even still, other than the T series, i've only had experience with the Furys and Foundations. So... which models might have a more jazz-like neck?!
Thanks!

Later models have different headstocks and have a more satin finish. The neck block is similar but may require modest fitting. The later 90's models abandoned the bilaminate neck and have separate glued on fingerboards(referring to maple boards).

FWIW, i don't really care about a headstock... it could be a Peavey, Fender, or new SX headstock for all i care. It's more of a comfort/ease of play situation.
