Fender Necks

Hey folks,

I've got a P bass with a very fast neck, slightly slimmer and shallower than a lot of P-Basses I've tried.

Now, I tried my friends '78 P-Bass and it had this baseball bat of a neck, sitting very deep in the hand. It's not a neck that you can play a flurry of notes easily but really makes to smack each note with authority.

I'm trying to figure out where to get a replacement neck for my P-Bass that will sit really deep in the hand but have a smaller width than your standard P Bass neck.

I'm not that much of a fan of Jazz bass necks as they can get a little too cramped for me.

Maybe I"m after a radius that sits between a Jazz and a P but with a D or U shape of a neck.
Now where the heck do I find one of those?

I`ve found that the the Squier VM / CV necks are just right between a Jazz and classic P neck. I love `em !

My Warmoth Jazz neck sounds like what you are describing. Its thicker than my Jazz, but with the same string spacing. Which is great for me because my hand at the base of my thumb cramps up when I play with a slim neck, but the Jazz string spacing is very comfortable for me.

What you are looking for is a Tele bass neck. I think the nut width is 1.6" and they are usually pretty fat.
