Very cool! I have had a bunch of Peavey basses. Now I'm down to 4 (counting this Fury). A Cirrus, a Millenium Plus, and the first B Quad 5 off the production line (signed on the back by Brian Bromberg).

US-made Peavey basses are awesome!

I'm looking forward to your report on how the Dlx does on the gig.

Well, the Deluxe was amazing! But.....it did not produce the classic P bass tone I was hoping for. It made a lot of great tones though!

I think I will pass on the Deluxe, keep my Standard and keep searching for the active tone I am looking for to augment my regular tone.

My new Ric isn't it (even though it is so very cool!) so maybe a Sting Ray is the next in line.

I love GAS!! And since I'm only 51' I still have time!!

Try out some of the older American Deluxe's. I have a '02 and they tend to get a different tone (from what I can tell) I love my American Deluxe and would prefer it over any other P bass (unless its a 70's :P)

Yup. Leo invented the P bass in '51. Then he improved it in '57. And he never came up with anything to improve it again after that.

Until he became part of MusicMan, that is. And then again as the L in G&L... I do love my '66 P. But, I think I might like the sound of my SR5 better. And most days, I'd actually pick up my SB-2 before either of those other two.

Thank Leo for so many wonderful choices!

+1 to the older Am Dlx P, with the humbucker and no passive mode. It's a beast of a bass, and has it's own sound, not like a StingRay, even though I assume the pickup is similar. Mine's also an '02 model, and I think they were made this way until recently, 2010 maybe.

I had an Am Standard P5 and a Deluxe P5 (with the bridge double J humbucker) at the same time. The Deluxe always sounded more modern and scooped to me. Although it sounded good (and looked amazing), it never got that midrangey bite of a good P. The bridge humbucker seemed like a great idea, but it didn't have the bite of a J pickup.

FWIW, I don't own either one any more...
