Fender P-Bass options....

Sign in to disble this ad
I've played all and enjoyed all of them but I don't kno which to get: Highway One P-Bass, Deluxe Active PJ-Bass, Deluxe Active Jazz Bass, FSR J-Bass, & an Active Jaguar bass! Mostly gonna be used in punk/alternative music. Anyone care to help me with this? I had a Squier Vintage Modified P-Bass but it got smashed by my crazy, psycho ex!!! So please help me decide.

When I think of punk, it's a P-bass all the way.

The best-sounding P's I've heard the last while, have all been Highway 1's or American Vintage 62's. Somehow, a banged-up Hwy 1 with stickers on it seems more appropriate than an AV '62 with a glossy nitro sunburst and a tort pickguard...

I guess for Alternative, it could be just about anything, as long as it suits the band you're in.

I'm going to chime in and recommend a Squier CV bass. My experience with them is that they are better than MIM Fenders these days. If you are considering a full-on MIA Fender and have the money for it, go for that.

But if you are looking on the less expensive end, the Squier CVs are remarkably good basses and need no mods whatsoever.

The CV 60s P-basses are great, as is their Jazz Bass, but personally I'm hankering for the new Squier VM Jaguar bass. Hot, AND it comes in a P/J configuration.

I happen to strongly dislike active electronics for a number of reasons, but that's just personal taste. I know a lot of people who are better players than I who swear by them.
