Looking for a P with a J neck but can't seem to find. Don't really care whether its a P body or J, prefer USA but not custom shop. Did they make any like this?

So you're essentially looking for a J with a P-pickup? That should be pretty easy to mod yourself.

Isn't that mean that you're looking for a Jazz Bass?

Probably, but it shouldnt really be that hard. Take a look in the Luthiers Corner forum on how to do it.

It's not a Fender, but another great bass is the Lakland 44-64 Custom. It's a passive precision bass with a jazz neck featuring blocks and binding. Awesome bass.

What about just getting a P body and guts off ebay and getting a nice Allparts J neck? Or maybe getting MIM P and an Allparts J neck. Sell the orig neck on ebay.

If only you don't limit it to be only has to be a MIA (and strict Jazz neck), there's a really good MIJ All Black Fender Precision (matching headstock) in classified sale by Joe Milstein. The nut width is 1.625", smaller than most P (1.75"), the same as my P, and it's a very comfy neck IMO..(Jazz' is 1.5")..
Really awesome look of bass.

Actually MIJ Fender are good basses, if not better than most MIA.

But that's me..
Good luck with your search man..

AFAIK, none of the Fender Ps with J necks have a solo P pickup. They are all P/Js- the Aerodyne, Duff McKagan sig/Jazz Special, Deluxe P bass Special, etc..

If you're looking for a lone P pickup with a J neck, your choice is limited to DIY.
