No, it's considered a Bass VI, a bass guitar tuned E-E, 30" scale, one octave lower than a guitar. Some famous users include Jack Bruce, John Lennon (on Helter Skelter), Robert Smith, and Joe Perry (Back in the Saddle).

It's a Fender bass VI. Ment for bass players that need a tool to show the guitard in the band the right way to play a song. LOL

This was a 60's thing correct? Kinda got beat out by the P bass and never really caught on. Cool concept.
