Fender Posiflex™ Graphite Neck Support Rods

Sign in to disble this ad
hi,

recently i went on the fender site,
and notice that american standard basses have graphite support rods in the necks too (yea, old news are exciting, i was ignorant until now )

so i wondered when american standard basses started to have graphite rods in their necks. (i have a ~2008 american standard jazz, which i'm trying to figure out if it has graphite rods in the neck)

thanks for helping me =)
have a good weekend.

AFAIK, if the truss rod adjuster is at the heel of the neck, it has the rods - if it's at the headstock, it doesn't have them...

I have an '07 American Standard Jazz, and it has the rods - so I'd say yours does, too - unless someone has changed the neck, that is...

i see...
so all fender with graphite rods have truss rod access in the heel of the neck,
and those without will have access at the headstock?

does it apply to all models or only american models?

thanks again

It is my understanding that Fender has been using graphite rods for quite a while now. I had a 97 neck with them. Yours will have them too unless I am sorely mistaken.

It doesn't look like graphite...what is inside the rod?

not true, I have an American Special neck 2011 with heel truss adjustment and it has no rods.

My 95 and 97 American Standards have them. And I don't think they do much reinforcing because those necks move quite a lot, and the vintage style rod is weak. I think double expanding rods with graphite rods would be a more stable proposition, which I am about to find out with my next Warmoth neck that's taking for ages to get here.

Fender American special's do have graphite rods.
From the fender site:
Unique Features:
US-Made, High Gloss Finish, NEW Slim Profile, Fast-Action Neck, Greasebucket(TM) Tone Circuit and Posiflex(TM) Graphite Neck Support Rods
Just to clear that up.

I to have a 2011 AM. Special jazz. Cant say that the rods really help with it. I've had to adjust the neck quite a few times in the last 6 months. Finally a good fret level seems to have cured my problems.
Cheers.

My 2004 American Standard Jazz bass had them as does my 2011 American Special Jazz Bass
