Right now, GC has these for $699 locally (reg. $799). To the poster in TX who wanted one - there are two in local Chicago stores (I asked, hoping a store would have at least 2 in stock, meaning one in box - but no dice.)
I had seen this hanging on the wall for a couple of months in the GC I bought it from...fought off the GAS both times and felt good about it. Today, I was running around and knew I'd be close by the GC - and with Xmas 'bonus' in hand (long story), decided that if they still had this, I'd play it and if it were good, get it as 'my' Xmas gift. Never knew I'd get it for $200 off.
Needless to say, I liked the way it sounded / played, and knew that it'd be coming home with me. It was just a matter of what I could get it out the door for.
Plugged into a Mesa Carbine M6 / Mesa 410 and it was love...no other way to describe it. Usually I have some level of buyer's remorse after I feed my GAS...not this time. The only bad thing I'd say is that it was badly in need of a proper setup. Working on that now. Oh, and besides the blemish in the clearcoat, there's one spot (about 1mm) on the back where the paint underneath the clearcoat has a darker 'dot'. Doesn't bother me - I intend to gig with this puppy and don't intend it as a case queen.
Funny thing is, I'm not the biggest fan of Jazz necks, but this one, for some reason, feels right at home for me so far. Must be psychological - I 'want' to like this bass, so this Jazz neck feels 'right'. Go figure.
Oh, and reading the posts - I must have one of the '1st batch' - I've got the 60th ann. neck plate, and the 'Limited Edition' sticker on the back. I knew it had to have been made a while back - the S/N digits started with '11'. I told the GM it had been on his wall awhile when I was bargaining; he tried to play it off.
Anyway, for those still looking for one of these, there's still a couple available in Chicagoland. Have GC ship it to your store and don't look back - it's a very good instrument for its price point and where it's made. Especially if you can get it new for what others are selling 'used' around here (I've missed out on a couple of them; one recently).

I didn't get quite the deal that Reprise did in the post above. It didn't have the 60th Anniv. neck plate either, but that's ok. It won't ship until the 26th.

Seems like someone in this thread mentioned something about replacing theirs.

Seems like someone in this thread mentioned something about replacing theirs. | Replied to your PM.
Also, just to reiterate and stir-up peoples GAS again: - The necks are the ones being used on the MIM Geddy Lee basses, but the truss rod adjustment is at the headstock and not the heel.
- The Hi-Mass bridge stock on these are the same ones stock on the Blacktop series. Imagine a Gotoh but BETTER. Fender finally hit the mark on this bridge and a BAII can suck it!
- That body is Ash, not Alder.
- It seems as though they are unofficially, officially Out-Of-Production. Swipe what's left before it's too late!
- MIM Standard Pickguards will work but an extra hole will have to be drilled for the 4th one. A custom one can be made at WDMusic under the MIM Standard series and select "4-Hole" in the drop-down options menu. They did a fantastic job on my Mirror Pickguard and I have been a customer with them for over 2 years of pickguard swapping on basses and they haven't sent me a botched order so far.

Asked the guy lots of questions, then finally asked what was his bottom line price out the door. Answer? Exactly what was on the sticker. $799. Oh well.

They were asking $674, but it had a small ding on one side. I'm guessing they would take much less based on deal Reprise got. Also, BTW, its got the 60th Anniversary neck plate.
Just so you know, I don't work for GC. I had selfish intentions. It had been so hyped here I had to find one and try it. Lucky for me this one was close to where I live. Just not the bass for me.

| | | | Actually, the bass is passive. One tone for the p pickup, one for the j pickup, and a volume. I have one like it. |

Speaking of....I've decided to upgrade the elecs on mine. It could use a bit more note articulation. Going with Bart P8 and Bart J single coil, and a Bart 2-band, with A/P knob.
Parts are on order, and most likely a black guard too. When I get done upgrading, it'll be one killer PJ. |

I'm going to take a long shot and say since the necks used on these GC Special Runs are the same ones from the new MIM Geddys, they are inlaid unless QC takes another hit later in the future and some corners need to be cut again (for the MIM Geddys).

It needs a setup, and some of the frets are sharp and need to be filed a bit, but still, I love it. That neck is pure sweetness, and I'm a 5'er guy.
As PBnJbassist said, get one of these by any means necessary. Sell your wife, an arm, whatever it takes, just get one.
