I was browsing fender.com and noticed that a new color has been offered for the Standard Series, Copper Metallic Burst.

No colors on the basses but here it is on the Tele:

So when you see the "NEW" image on the Standard series, don' to get too excited.

IMO, that colour is vile.

Normal sunburst is nicer.

I'd rather see a Sonic Blue or Butterscotch Blonde.

this does look like a regular burst - in fact I saw one at a distance in a local GC and thought it was a cool looking (I've always wanted a brown/black burst) but up close it's definitely not a regular burst. metallic and gold-ish in the middle

I didn't dig it up close, but maybe it needs to grow on me . . .

Hmmm....I'm not really sure I like it.

Personally, I'd just stick with a straight-up 3-tone sunburst.

Is this a translucent burst where you can see the body grain or is it totally opaque?

Interesting burst, but not a fan. I'd like to see fender do a blue burst.

No - it's too red... call me old fashioned but I prefer the original burst.

When I saw the name (Copper Metallic Burst), I thought, "Wow, this might be awesome!". But looking at it, I'm underwhelmed...

It thought so. This is some kind of sunburst they can put over cosmetically subpar bodies like any other solid finish.

I dunno about that, but I do see this appealing to some.

problem is, it's so close (at least from a distance) to the most "sacred" fender color . . . it's gonna get flamed to a near crisp in short order methinks

The image is terrible...it likely does the color NO justice whatsoever.
