Fender roscoe beck V question.

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi TB. Got myself Fender Roscoe Beck V bass. It was an impulse buy, got a good deal on this one, and also in my favourite colour, CAR. But the sound doesn't impress me at all. I like how the wood resonates and it's really comfortable in my hands, but it lacks balls compared to my 73 p-bass and my 62' us ri jazz and it doesn't want to sit in the mix. Whenever my guitarist engages the OD channel the bass is gone! What could be the problem?

Thank you for your input

Set the pickupswitch in the middle position (both pickups on) and set the microswitches to serial and I guarantee you balls.

Cheers,

Dronnba

Try experimenting with the electronics. Because you've got so many options available that you should not have a hard time getting a good sound. I've had my Roscoe Beck V for over 10 years now and it is my go-to bass.

I can generally dial in a good sound just by using the tone knob and using both pickups. But occassionally I'll use the front pickup in humbucking mode. Pop out the tone knob to engage the variable midrange control and you can get some super punchy tones.

Maybe it was wired out of phase? A few owners here have had trouble with that.
