Fender serial # help.......

Hi guys! Fella selling me a Fender 5 that looks to be a MB5. He has sent me a serial # of 2838188....Does that make any sense to anyone? I'm trying to date the Fender. Bud

should be a some letters in front of it.

From what I can guess from the weird headstock shape it is an MIJ early 90s 5 string Fender......but yea, seems like some letters should be in there.....Bud
