Fender small scale P-bass?

Hey all, hope this is the right place for this question...

I picked up a small scale P-bass that says "Fender Electric Bass" on the headstock and "Made in Japan" on the neck plate. Dimensions are: Neck - 27", Overall (headstock to tail) - 37", Body (widest point) - 10". It's got a cool gig bag, too. Almost looks like a kid's starter bass...a few pics are attached.

Anyway, does anyone have knowledge of this bass? Any estimate of the value?

I contacted Fender and they didn't know (they were, though, very helpful).

Fender Precision Bass Junior

I saw a couple of these floating around a few years back. I thought they sold for 249ish new. The reason I never got one was because every one I played had horrible fret sprout.
