| Fender / Squier rosewood fretboards question

I was looking at my Squier Precision fretboard & noticed that the rosewood fretboard finished near the nut. Yet looking at other Squier's & Fenders therosewood fretboard extends further, is there any reason why this is or is mine down to shoddy workmanship.
