Fender is to Squire as Ibanez is to Soundgear ???

What is this Soundgear by Ibanez brand? Is it another Squire/Epiphone? Or is it a higher quality instrument? Since my next trip to my music store won't be for a while, can anyone here tell me?

Soundgear is a line of basses. So Soundgear is to Ibanez as Jazz or Precision is to Fender.

i was about to type how gio is more comparable to squier, but then i realized that i really dont care about the name at all, just if it plays good. I think the sound gears play well. I think some squiers play well.

Soundgear is a line under the Ibanez brand...kinda like Roadstar and Musician back in the old days...

There are basses of all quality levels in the Soundgear line.

The quality is out there regardless of the name on the headstock. I lucked out when a buddy of mine sold me his Squire P bass because it plays better than some MIA models I've tried. But I've also tried out some lousy Squires as well.

Just recentley bought an SR505. Solid from top to bottom with immaculate fret work. Plays like a dream. But I also played some real lousy SR models as well.

You just got to look around.

Although the Gio line is probably close as it is Ibanez' budget or beginner line, it is not a separate brand like Squier, just a model name.

Ibanez doesn't have a Squier equivalent.

As others said, Soundgear is a line of Ibanez basses (along with Atk, BtB, and others) like Fender's Jazz Bass (along with Precision Bass and Mustang) models.

All Soundgears are pretty decent, quality instruments for the money. I believe the higher the Number goes the more goodies it comes with, plus better pickups/bridge etc... But they are all gigable IMO.
