Fender Standard Jazz Bass V 5-String, who has one?

Just seeing who has a Fender Standard Jazz Bass V 5-String(MIM). If you have one or have tried one what do you think of it. I'm thinking of bidding on one. Just looking for feedback. It is a passive bass right? Just a little more info, I play through a GK MB210/210MBE or a Peavey Combo 300. Thanks.

I have one. It's physically a very decent bass. The only thing I didn't like about it was the stock pu's that are really cheap and bad sounding.
So you should be prepared to get replacement pu's. Other than that I have no complaints.

What kind of pickups did you use as replacements?

I installed Bartolinis J57s. They are the longer versions of the J59 that fits right in the Standard and the American jazz V.
And, yes, the bass is passive.

Thanks for the info. I'm not sure what year the bass is, I think 2000-2001. It's MZ0275943...the website says MZ0 plus 5 digits. This number has 6 numbers.

I put a Bartolini P-type pickup in the neck position on mine(first year-5 in a row tuners), a good move as far as I'm concerned. I also put a hipshot detuner on the A string.

Does Fender make a Standard (MIM) Jazz V fretless? If so, where the heck can I get one?

I have a 2001 Fender Jazz V MIA (passive), while the amplified sound is far inferior to my stock 4-string 2004 Fender Jazz MIA, the feel of the neck and string spacing on the 5 is more comfortable and my playing comes out more articulate and precise. My bandmates always ask why I don't use the 4string because they love how it sounds and the reason is I play better on the 5. The 5-string pickups have a 250Hz response that I always notch out on recordings, the 4-string is never eq'd (as long as i'm not playing really heavy stuff). I use TI flats on both basses, so strings aren't the variable (maybe string age is).
I have done a couple mods to the 5 and they seemed to help. I used 10-24 SS machine screws and brass threaded wood inserts to attach the bolt-on neck (instead of wood screws). I modded the tone stack with a Angela Jensen Aluminum Foil Paper in oil audio grade capacitor. I am looking into trying new pickups.
Overall I really like the Fender MIA Jazz V but you may end up swapping pups.
