I've given Fender all of my money. I don't play any basses other than Fender. I even use Fender strings, cases, and straps on all of them.

Now I'm a Fender basher?

I'M not saying you're a basher, but I think you should at least wait until NAMM before saying about how uninspired Fender is in 2013. This thread was started before 2013 was a week old - a bit preemptive. It also gives a reason for Fender haters here to start bashing the brand.

There's still 97% of 2013 left to go. The past two years we've seen a number of new products hit the lineup, so maybe they're doing more than you think for this year. On the other hand, we may not need more because the lineup is already rather crowded. It's very, VERY early in 2013 - and I still say wait to see until at least NAMM.

OK, your thread topic was stupid, and opened the door for the usual cast of Fender bashers here - happy now???

Cynicism aside, on a technical level, yes I am happy with your clarification.

Although those on the "Fender Defense Force" are just as bad as the usual Fender bashers.

. It's just another opportunity for Fender bashers to put their worth in. To me it does no good to post a thread about Fender on 2013 when we are only in January...

Maybe I am a member of the "Fender Defence Force" but in this case I think we have every right to be stating what we think in a dumb thread like this.

Fender should bring out a "Pawnshop Warriors" line of instruments. Basically copies of old rat rod basses that have been played into the ground. They take an AV 57 reissue, crudely sand the finish and brush paint it with varnish, replace one tuner with a non-matching gold one, add some anonymous high-mass brass bridge with one or two infuriatingly warped adjustment screws, a brass nut, a new one-ply black pickguard and '80s era EMG pickups (original pickups included in case with 1/2 inch of bare wire running from it just to keep your soldering skills up to snuff). Under the pickguard you find some horrifying DIY routing for both a mudbucker and at least two 9-volt batteries... strong smell of animal urine and stale cigarettes all round.

You know you want one!!

Agreed. Give it a rest guys. It is early January. Stop worrying about Fender and everything else, go into your music room, and play (and improve your skills) your instrument(s) The thread topic is just for discussion not for anything else in regards to bashing Fender or its ideas.

There is no such thing as a "stupid" question, answer, topic, or thread title.

I guess it depends on what your definition or meaning of "stupid" is.

I'm actually looking forward to 2013 for Fender. They have the new AVRI's, plus they've redone the Dirnt's in a worn nitro finish and maple boards. I'm sure we'll see a few other new models as well. Just be patient and wait for NAMM!

Not really. It's only a week into 2013, way too early to complain about what Fender is or isn't doing this year.

I whine a lot too, however these are tough times. I own a small business and let me tell you, if I am in business this time next year I might be surprised!
Well said, I've started and sold 2 business (the last was sold 14 years ago) and I can't imagine doing that again anytime soon.

One solid rule of business; you've got to grow or you will eventually die. Innovation often times promotes growth.
Patents and copyrights on desireable designs = a license to print money.
