Fender V Bass

This is a 1967 Fender V bass that I bought on Ebay. Originally strung with a low E and high C. I had it restrung to a low B - had to be slightly modified. I still have trouble playing it. Only 15 frets and not much room between strings. Anyone else out there play one?

The orginals were made between 1965 and 1970. Only 200 produced. They couldn't sell them. They ended up using the extra bodies to build the Fender Swinger. JPJ was said to have played one.

There's been a couple posts here recently. I've owned 2 (see the second post):

No, but I'm old enought to remember them new. Seemed kind of an odd duck at the time, but I was fourteen
Now I think it's a great aquisition and one that'll grow in value, even if it doesn't play quite normally. I think the E-C tuning was the design intent, to kinda bridge the gap to the Bass VI (which we would now consider a baritone guitar).

Great purchase!!

Wow, I thought 5 string Fenders were a modern idea...glad they got it right, since in my modest opinion, this one is ugly...sorry, but I like the modern 5 string better...

I haven't, but I'd give it a go.
