Fender w/ 3 jazz pups?

Sign in to disble this ad
A friend of mine has a bass that has 3 jazz pups. It doesn't say Jazz or Precision (or any other model)on the headstock, simply Fender and Made in USA. He's offered to sell it to me for cheap but I cannot find information on it via google and wonder if it might be a fake.

Anybody know what model it might be?

PUP configuration looks the same. Different electronics config but same bridge, I think. I don't remember the HM basses but I do remember the HM Strat. It doesn't say HM and doesn't have the same type font that the HM Strat had but it certainly could be related to the one you showed here. Also, I seem to remember the HM stuff being Jap made. Is that correct? The headstock curves seem to be less swoopy(is that a word?) than the trad headstock on Fenders. The font on the headstock is sort of "boxy" looking.
