OK guys hit me with your comments I love these basses and an thinking of having a bid on this, but something is telling me not to make the plunge and I don't know what it is. If any of you can help me put my finger on it I'll be truly grateful.

That is a pretty snazzy looking bit of gear.

I say snap it up, give it a cleaning and new black anodised bridge for sure.
Maybe even a new coat of white if you're feeling it.

Thats the brother to the more common jazz bass special that duff mackagan from guns n roses highly favors over alot of ther gear, there (jazz bass specials) great basses I have owned 2 and will have more in the future. These are harder to find and I am guessing the quality is the same, people have said these old MIJ's can play as good as MIA's easily and I agree.

I dont know how much that equates to american $ but for that bass i would pay 300-400$ no prob with the case.

Also i just sold a badass II bridge on ebay for 100$ so you could sell that badass and get a regular black bridge for like 20-30$.

Weeeell... It's not in great condition. It looks cool, but it might be difficult to recoup your money if you resell it. Considering it looks to have been treated poorly, you'd be taking a gamble as far as the neck playability is concerned. I'd only bid on it if (a) it goes for super cheap, or (b) I felt like doing a refin project anyway.

I'm feeling your comments I think the seller is putting me off as it's a shop on ebay and I know if I started asking questions I'm going to get this look I have a Jazz Special I just thought this would go nice with it. But Like you say I'm taking a gamble on the neck and that does worry me. If it had started lower I think I would be more likely to have a punt at it.

it looks to me to be in decent condition for a 23 year old bass. i wouldn't change a thing on it, with the exception of installing a Fender vintage reissue bridge on it. (i don't care for, or buy into the high mass bridge concept- and never did).

I agree about keeping it original I love guitars that tell a story.

you're taking a gamble buying any used bass on ebay, and by the looks of that one, it looks fine to me (the action doesn't apear to be high from having a large front bow or anything).
