Finally achieved my tonal goal!

Wanted to share this ... after 3.5 years with this band, at our last gig I finally found the tone I've been after forever... Would love your opinion on it:

perfect p bass town with a hit of overdrive I really love it and the bass is nice and loud :)

Fletz 12-24-2012 11:41 AM

No effects at all!

DiabolusInMusic 12-24-2012 11:42 AM

Nice, good filming too. ( Do you guys go for the black and white theme between the bass/guitar/ singer shirt, looks slick)

Now, how long do you think this will be your tone? The quest never ends in my book, the grass is always greener...

Technotitclan 12-24-2012 11:47 AM

Love it

My opinion is that you-all have got tight.
I love the sound you are getting, by the
way, did you use any effects?

My phone doesn't do it justice, but I love that song. Gotta listen on my computer when I get home.

I have to agree with the above post, but Im a new convert to P after a decade on Jazzes.
But in saying that I do also dig that tone in the first clip too,I guess Im looking for something in between.Plus I gotta dig in more :)
Thanks for the inspiration.

Very nice! I am probably a new convert in the making. I played a Fender pbass with a maple fretboard a few days ago and was surprisingly floored by the tone.

azzyrazzy 12-25-2012 04:17 AM

The Good Ole' P-bass again huh? :)

AMp'D.2play 12-25-2012 07:12 AM

Very nice, Pete! I listened through my laptop and I'm looking forward to putting on some headphones later and giving it an even better listen.

My P bass in on the bubble whether it stays or goes, but videos like yours give me a moment of pause.

On a side note, I know you're a NJ bassist, but I just now noticed you're from the Clinton area. I used to live in Hunterdon Cty (Lebanon) and was just in Clinton 2 days ago. Damn, I miss living out there!

Merry Christmas!

Thanks! Merry Christmas to you too. I've been through a hundred effects, amps and basses but this combination seems to finally be magic. I was a jbass devotee for my first 25 years then got that P-bass 3 years ago and haven't looked back.

Sounds great.

Been a while since I played Cumbersome.... Or my Precision!

Fletz 12-26-2012 12:44 PM

Also, a fresh set of Rotosounds didn't hurt either.

I was about to guess this, no lie! I love the tone, and the fact that you achieved this without any effects is a true testament to the consistency of your technique. Very nice.
