Find me this bass...

It sounds like a Ric, has the comfort of a Fender Jazz and the smooth playability of a Music Man.

What is it?

It's a Ric, they have all three requirements: tone, comfort and playability.

Doesn't really sound too much like a Rick but I'd say a Gibson Ripper would cover all three of those bases fairly well.

Don't know anyone that has tried it. it's fairly new, but looks interesting. And yeah, the price raises some concerns, but if the body is properly built, one can switch out the electronics for this price.

That won't SOUND like a Rickenbacker OR a Jazz Bass. I'm sure it's a fine bass, but the Rick-ish shape is cosmetic, and the pickup configuration won;t allow it to sound like either. It will sound like....well, a Retrovibe Vantage Bass ! Of course you could mod it somewhat, but even then it will be missing some of the key elements to Rickenbacker tone.

For Rick tone you need .... maple body ... thick RW fretboard...rick pickups ...multiple truss rods... etc ....

Rickenbacker 4004 Laredo or Cheyenne ii, depending on whether you want something a bit brighter or warmer, respectively.

That right there is a stroke of genius. If someone started making that as a custom build, I bet there'd be bassists lined up for it.

So the RickenFender or FenderBacker started it's life as a 60th Anniversary MIM P-bass. All the electronics came from Pick of the Rick's. All 4003 parts including the toggle and the push/pull pot. Routing and build completed with a Babicz bridge. So I have the sound and versatility of a Rick with the ergonomics of a Precision. And like I have said, bassist's in the crowd ALL look at with boggled minds.

How does that "sound like a Ric and has the comfort of a Jazz" ?

More likely it "feels like a Ric and sounds like a Jazz".

Cool bass though ...I like it.
