Love the 16mm spacing on my Burner, it instantly felt comfortable even though I'm used to Jazz Bass spacing.

20mm. Found that spacing to be extremely comfortable when I was playing Warwick SSI 5's. So, I now have three Roscoe Century 3005's with 20mm spacing at the bridge.

I'll play any of those string spacings. I think I got my 1st 5er in '02 or so and had no idea that there were basses with different string spacings. Not sure what guitar string spacing is, but I can play those, too.

I have large hands. Playing anything under a 16mm is too close together for my taste.
My Spector Rebop has a 16.5mm and is quite comfortable.
My Fender P-5 has 18, but could be 17 or 16.5 if I took the time to change the threads the string sits in on the saddle.
Both basses present no noticeable difference to my hands.

I pushed my Fodera a bit wider so its like 19+ and feels great to me. I do have rather large hands, but I played a Modulus Q6 with 17mm spacing for 10 years, so it's reasonably easy to adjust.

Preference is 19mm for sure.

I really like tight spacing. Like 15-16 mm.

Nothing feels as good as 19mm does IMO. Same goes with guitars. I wish they all had classical necks. The odd part is I have small hands with short sausage fingers.

17.5mm spacing at the bridge, 45mm total width at the nut. Anything bigger than that and my hands cramp up.

19 or 20 mm.

Could probably tolerate 18mm in small doses. Anything less is a deal breaker.

K, just curious - what basses have this 14 and 15 mm spacing some of you speak of? I had 16.5mm on a previous bass and I don't know that I've ever seen a bass with anything tighter than that.

I seriously doubt it anything tighter than 17 or 16mm, probably just a guess on someones part.

two at 19mm, but neck width differs

I have a Line 6 Variax 705 with 19mm spacing at the bridge and the neck at the nut is 1.75 inches.

Also have a Squier Deluxe Jazz V with 19mm spacing at the bridge, but the neck at the nut is 2 inches.

I was surprised that both were 19mm at the bridge, the neck width really makes a difference in the feel.

I don't mind either one, but I am more used to the Variax simply because I have been playing it longer. I have very large hands and I like wider necks. However I almost never slap, pretty much just a finger player.

On a 5- 17.5mm

I play a lot of guitar, anything bigger is a harder adjustment.

Ibanez Gerald Veasley model has a 14mm spacing. Don't know who else offers anything that tight.

I built my own bass and I immediately fell in love with the tighter spacing.
