I guess it's finally time to post some pics of my Monarch. This is definitely the absolute best bass I've ever owned. The only bass that came close was my 70's Carl Thompson that he built in his kitchen. I had to take some pics to send the guys in Brooklyn to register it and I though I would share them with y'all. The pictures aren't the best. I thought early morning light would be good for pics, but I was wrong.
For those that like to see a well used boutique bass, here you go. This is my gas killer and the one I hope to keep for my lifetime.
I pulled the stock two-band preamp out and replaced it with a new Pope Flexcore with the two bands of midrange. I had this preamp in the Yin Yang Standard I used to own and it's by far my favourite preamp. I've been thinking about replacing the EMGs. I've been talking to Phil over at the Fodera shop and I think I'm going to try so Lindy Fralins in it.
For the past few months I've been thinking that I was going to have to sell the Fodera. The job market here sucks and I've been having a hard time finding a better job than I have now. I was able to juggle some stuff around and let some other stuff go and I think I'll be able to keep it now. I had it sitting in the case for the past few months, not wanting to play it if I have to sell it. When I pulled it out, it was perfectly in tune after all that time. I use a strobe tuner and it was perfect.
