If I set my YYD that way the sound will be quite brittle. I typically roll my passive tone back almost all the way and run my active controls mostly flat. I have an older pre with no dip switches.
What are your typical tone settings? | I tend to stay close to flat with my Active EQ(newer pope pre). Most of the time, I will have the bass boosted a touch, and the passive tone at about 80%.

I am starting to begn figuring out what my second Fodera will be. I likely should get my first one in hand, but after playing a couple Foderas.... I think I am in trouble!

I will likely just personalize it with stickers, crayons and some Bedazzling. MY signature.

What are your typical tone settings? | Yeah, you are right, i can't get a full smooth tone with my YYS unless i do some eqing (I also bought the bass because i didn't want a smooth tone). I usually boost the bass and mids just a touch and roll down the passive tone. His amp settings may have had something to do with his tone too. |

I tend to be on the P pup most of the time, and if the strings are new the passive eq will be rolled off a bit. Treble flat, mid flat or maybe small boost if I want to cut, and a bit of bass boost. When I roll onto the bridge pup I generally add a bit more bass and sometimes a little mid. As the strings age I open up the passive tone.

The angle of your finger pluck, the amount of meat of your finger you use (as well as how thick your fingers are), pressure, etc all have a huge impact on the fatness of the tone. I tend to play more like a fingerstyle guitar or banjo picking (pulling up/away from the bass), and as a result my tone is thinner. If I thumb (not slap, but thumb down) it gets way thicker, and if I pluck with my finger across the string it also is thicker.

Big excitement for me tonight. I thought they didn't get any pics before it left the shop but, lo and behold, it just showed up on the Newborn page.

Occasionally I'll move the blend knob just a hair out of the detent toward the bridge. I don't usually go to the neck pickup, but Mike Pope showed me how to EQ it so it sounds real thick without that weird tubular kind of P-bass sound. I'll work on it.
