Exactly what I pictured the monique to sound like, chewy mids on a bass like the rob allen, or a pbass, and nice clear highs on that MGS. I really can't wait for my fodera to show up, that MGS tone helps me to know I made the right choice in switching to dual coils. What were the settings on your MGS for the melody? |

Basically what I consider the "J bass" setting. In single coil mode there are some nice extended highs without being too in your face. And the Monique fattens up the tone nicely. I like what it does to the G and C-string.

I just got sent a video of a band I played with from LA the other night on the Nick and Artie show on Direct TV/Sirius radio....brought the Fodera and they had a sweet Fender Bassman + 610 waiting for me. It was self biasing and could switch between 25 and 100 watts and had a separate overdrive channel that sounded killer. Anyway, here's the clip....dude's freestyle is ridiculous! Kelley James - "6 Bottles" on the Nick and Artie show

Jamming behind freestyling is fun cause you want to play around but you have to keep it tasteful and not take away from the vocal, you know? The drummer is Stefan Litrowik who plays for Billy Ray Cyrus. He lives in LA, as do all the guys. Last summer we opened for O.A.R. on their stadium tour and Kelley would have people in the audience yell out random things and freestyle about them on the spot at every show....hilarious

Anyone else have the bridge pickup this high?

| | Registered User | | | | Mike Lull makes beautiful instruments, and I did consider one of his 5-string JJ basses this past summer. Then I picked up this.
I agree with the prior comments "I just want to pick it up and play it every moment I can.". That only will change when my E5S is done in a few months. Then I'll have to find double the practice/play time!
I am also adding a four string to my arsenal in the new year.
If I go with the pictured New Standard "La Scala" hybrid (solid top, laminate body), that's 6K and change for the bass, and upwards of 2k for the bow. That will put a third and/or custom Fodera on hold for an indefinite period...but I'll never say never.
Best wishes to all of you, the Fodera playing and making family, for a safe, happy, and music filled holiday season and New Year's celebration.
Hess
