Some fodera strings for me, but I won't be getting another fodera bass for awhile. Tentatively planning a custom imperial for my 30th birthday(4/26/2015).

You and me both. (My 30th will be 8/04/2015.) What are you planning?

Sounded great man! Excellent playing, and you're right, that amp sounded great. It helps having a Fodera pumping through that rig.

I got bitten by playing an MG 5 for about 20 minutes. The first thing I did was a scaler run (whole tone thingy from low F through 2 octaves) up and down the neck and i was amazed at how I didn't have to fight against any string tension, it just wasn't present, therefore it felt effortless. I use a 3 fingered right-hand approach and the 3rd finger usually feels most of the tension; but not with the Fodera. So the playability factor was the decider for me.
My first experience wit Fodera, was a 1984 monarch that I had received from Garey. The same thing happened to me. It was so effortless that it almost felt like I was playing air bass! I could do techniques on that bass that I couldn't do on any basses which preceded it. 4 foderas later. I am still blown away at the playability, tone, craftsmanship, and the attention to detail. I have a new 33" scale monarch due to be completed in march or April. And I am so excited!

Truly amazing!

I asume this bass is tuned E-C. When does the pickup have one or two poles under the C string? It seems very different

That is amazing. Even the fingerboard has nice figuring.

Must sound insane.

Cheers to a very happy Boxing Day for my fellow Canucks. This afternoon was spent drinking Wiser's and Gibson's whiskey and playing my Fodera. Got a little transcription time in (worked on Vic's solo on "Bumbershoot"), and am about to watch Goldfinger with my dad and bro. The only thing better than a holiday is two holidays in a row.

I generally lean more towards the Scottish side of things with my whiskey drinking, but have been hitting the bourbons of the world a little more this year. Knob creek 9 most recently. Cheers all!

Since we're on the topic of Brazilian Rosewood, does anybody have any experience (or know of anybody that does) travelling out of the country with it? I've read that you can get your bass confiscated if you don't have proper import documents when crossing the boarder. Does anybody know what AJ does with his presentation?

How would they have any idea it's a particular species without you telling them?

We do not offer any dovetail 6-string basses because we worry that the tension on the joint might cause structural weakness down the road.

Remember that the Viceroy was originally designed as a Mike Pope Signature model. The shape can certainly be used on any instrument -- it is just that no one has ordered the Viceroy shape yet in a neck-through format.

Regards,

Jason

Any future plans when those options will be available?

Forget about the removable FB extension on a neck-through. We'd never agree to do it -- it would be cost prohibitive.

I'm sure they'd have no problem with doing a Viceory shaped dovetail / neck-thru, just probably not with the detachable fretboard piece or moveable pickup.
