I don't know but you can buy a lot of nice German fretless basses for 1000 euros .

Sandberg, Fame (Baphomet series), Warwick, Human Base and Hotwire all make nice fretlesses you might be able to find used for around that. It's essentially a Fender Jazz copy.

As far as I know, they are and they're competitive new at about 1000 Euro.

Hi,

as I told in here some months ago:
I played that bass in the Framus museum in germany.
Not one of those - but that special original bass, that's me with it:

Well, it was ok, but not very easy to play.
Huge string height.
Very slim neck.
Sounded (without amplifier) ok, but no soundmonster.

But it was special to play an instrument, the master once played...

If it isn't the original Jaco Framus bass - 1.000 Euros are too much for it.
Buy a used Fender/US Jazz Bass - it's more worth the money. A lot.

Thanks for posting! Although I have gone to some Messe Shows in Frankfurt for Hotwire Basses and toured there some, it's been awhile since I have been there. If the OP is going for a Jazz Bass/ Jaco sound the Fender is a good idea, particularly with a rosewood fingerboard that he can have a luthier defret and cover with some sort of epoxy material. Jaco could get an amazing sound out of practically any bass, so I'm not surprised it's just "ok".

And I red some years ago, that his BOD was hard to play, too (before it was restored):
- extreme string height
- very slim neck

Maybe it's one of the secrets, that he used this extreme string height. When I played my old Ibanez Jazz Bass (defretted, Epoxy on fretboard), the string height was huge, too - and it had - played on bridge pu - a jaco style sound.
But only Jaco stlye - because the main part of the sound came out of his hands...
