Fretless 5 buzz, HELP
I just got a new bass, Carvin B5F and I have buzz only on the B string, it's really annoying and the fact that there are no decent shops I can take my bass to fix it
Can someone guide me what I need to do to kill the buzz?
you try raising the action
a couple of thoughts, try a set with a higher tension thicker guage B string. more tension may equal less "flop" and help you out. get you a precision ruler marked in 64ths of an inch and measure the action at the 12th "fret" your B should be set up at least at the same height if not a 64th higher than your E string. is the buzz primarily in the lower register? if so, loosening the truss rod to add a little relief may help. good luck!
Carvin gives a nice sheet explaining how to adjust intonation and action on your bass ... look into your case.
well I bought three basses from them and I had that sheet everytimes
It might just be the string.
I bought a used fretless a while back and a string was causing a vibrating noise. I couldn't figure out what it was and it took a while to come to the conclusion it was a string that was buzzing making the noise.
I swapped it with a different string and the buzzing disappeared. At some later point I put the string that was buzzing back on and this time there was no buzz.
Something with a loose core, maybe?
Try the string swap.
If it's only the B string that's buzzing, then you just need to raise that string up. If there are other strings buzzing, then you need to determine where on the fb the string(s) is/are buzzing.
