Since you have several of the same type (more or less) with frets getting comfortable without them shouldn't be too much trouble. My main basses were always fender Js so when I decided to go fretless I got the Squier VM J and my fingers just kinda knew where to go....

|  | Registered User | | Join Date: Dec 2009 Location: Finland | | | I played my fretless tricked-out Squier/ESP mongrel with the LaBella tapewounds (see post #857) at rehearsal last week, for a few tunes. Definitely a better bass to play than what my original induction bass to this club was - a defretted G&L L-2000 E. I had no trouble with basic classic rock tunes and could pull off a couple of tasty licks too. This bass is clearly a keeper for me, and a nice option to have when the tune calls for a fretless sound!
