There were zero listings on ebay or amazon or any of the etailers that were even close. Next day both Ebay and Amazon had numerous listings for it at $449 shipped. None of those include the G&L bag though, and I'm fine paying the extra for one. I have one for my Tribby L2K and it's a fine bit of kit.
UPS says it will be here Tuesday, so stay tuned. |

| | | | so i've got a question concerning old g&ls.
i have an '81 L1K that's been in my possesion for almost two years, i've spent plenty opf time to get to know it and dial it in and all that. but, there's one thing thats stopping it from being "great", the E-string doesnt have the same sustain/volume/tone as the other strings. i've tried multiple sets of strings (different brands and types) on it, and it's the same case with every one. does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this?

Try one full turn and go from there. The direction the slot points has an effect, try it parallel, perpendicular or at an angle to see what sounds the best. Other than that I don't know, the E should sound massive!

Check that the saddle is fully contacting the bridge plate.
Then check that the nut is in good shape. Not cracked, solid in it's groove, and that the E string slot is cut deep enough so that the string fully seats in the slot.
Check that the string makes a good break angle from the nut to the tuner post.
Assuming the pickup and pole pieces are adjusted to the right height, check the pickup for equal output from each of the poles.
Plug into an amp, tap each pole with a small screw driver. The output signal from tapping each pole should sound very similar in loudness. If not, PM me. |

Try clamping a small C-clamp onto various areas of the headstock, see if that changes the dead zone at all. Beyond that, I got nuthin'. Take it to a luthier. Good luck. |

Good luck. | i'll try that when i get a chance. it's the weirdest thing, it's like the entire range of the E is a deadnote.

I have owned several G&L 4-Bangers in the past, and I recently took possesion of my 1st G&L 5-String, a BlueBurst L-1505 which I have come to call the Blue Buffalo. (Pics to follow, I know the rules!) Through my Main Rig I can dial in the tone pretty easily. It's an SWR Mo' bass with an 8X10 Megoliath cab that I run in Stereo; Straight bass out the bottom and Effects out the top. MWah! I love the way the bass plays, and the "B" is pretty decent, even at the 7th/8th frets.
But when I go to my Smaller rigs I'm having trouble getting a Good Tone. This bass is just Overpowering, even in Passive Mode. I usually go for a Brighter Alembic/Aria Pro II Active tone. But once I get the treble to start Lighting Up it sounds pretty harsh, and the bass is either On or Off. Oh, smaller rigs are an Eden Metro with either a 2X10 or a 1X18 under it, or an Eden/Nemesis ENX-260 with either an SWR Henry the 8X8 or SWR Triad cab. At LOUDER volumes the ENX-260 actually sounds decent, but as FUN as that can be, it's not too realistic. Setting Bass & Mid Flat and Treble +3 on amp, Parallel on Bass, Bass & Treble about Middle, slight adjustments as needed. Any other settings I've tried just don't sound too good.
So any of you G&L Veterans got any advice for a Tone-Challenged "New Again" Player?
