also any recommendations of cases would be nice, haha.
I think a generic (Fender sized) case would fit just fine.

If you want generic, you could go with a Guitar center case.Depending on your likes and dislikes, they have some nice tweed ones also that should fit your bass.I would suggest on actually going there to try it.An L-2000 is no longer than a Fender Jazz,so it should work out great.Hope this helps.

If I didn't give you a number than you didn't ask for one.Everyone that wants a number asks for one, they don't just post their G&L's and assume I know that you want one. Please take G&L Club Member 502,and add it to your Talk Bass signature. Joe.

Here is my blue ASAT bass with black 3-ply pickguard. I really love this bass with the pick guard. I am sure some will hate it. I have always thought the style of the Tele was classic, and I think the shape of the pickguard is integral to the appeal of Leo's early genius. I am not a bass collector, I play this thing, love it, and don't plan on selling it, so it's re-sale value etc is not important to me. I still gotta admit that turning those pick-guard screws into the body made me wince.

Advice for anyone following a similar path: The clear coat is really thick, so pre-drill your holes or you will crack the finish and it might show on the exposed portions of the body.

I had Terrapin Island guitars in Portland make this pick-guard for me.

Adding a few grams to help the neck dive...

I had one, hollow body, maple neck, but now I am happy with my M2500.

This bass has the swamp ash body so I don't find much problem with neck-dive, though I imagine the lighter bodies might. A complaint might be that the overall bass is very heavy, especially for it's size, and there are times I wish it was lighter. I just keep repeating to myself that '70s mantra "mass = sustain"

Mine was swamp ash too, and as I said, hollow-body, hence lighter than a solid body. Never had any neck dive with a nubuck belt. Pickguard clashing with the f-hole, I think .

Yeah, the f-hole would clash with the pickguard. I'm diggin' that blue ASAT.

Meanwhile, a bit of JB-2 love, with my USA sunburst that sports DiMarzio Model J's. I'm favoring the bridge pickup:

The pickguard for a thinline Tele is different:

Another idea:

Or even this:

Heresy?

I currently have two L-2500 Tributes, one Amber with Rosewood the other Blueburst with Maple, I love them both.

I generally roll the volume back a bit to match the output with other basses (although my pickup height is pretty low), set the Bass and Treble at perhaps 8 (of 10), use only the front pickup in the series humbucking mode and run passive.

Since there are times I'd like to add a little bridge pickup, I'm really thinking about rewiring them to have the following features:

1. Volume, Volume, Tone (treble cut) or Volume, Balance Tone

2. The current pickup selector would engage the OMG mod.

3. The Series/Parallel switch would allow Series/Single/Parallel coil configurations.

4. I'd leave the preamp switch alone so it would still offer passive/active/active with treble boost.

Have many others done something similar or is it considered heresy?

People have done this here and have commented on it. Here are a few random thoughts from me, although I haven't done this mod.

1. I like having the bass control available so my choice would be to convert the volume to a stacked pot with either vol/vol or vol/blend. I like vol/vol because you could turn them both up and down together solving the usual master volume adjustent hassle without changing mix problem with normal vol/vol setups. Also vol/vol pots are easily available in stacked.

2. The stacked vol/vol solution is better than stacked "bass/treble" because the bass pot on the G&L is weird and hence getting proper stack values is tough.

3. Yes, current switch for pickup selector would be nice spot for OMG mode. On mine, I have a push-pull pot on the treble knob for OMG mode. And my experience says that having OMG on a switch somewhere is a thing you DO want to have! Note you can sub a push/pull (Stewmac) control for the treble as it is a standard pot value, unlike the bass control.

4. Yes, since the blending of pickups occurs where the pickup switch used to be (after the pickups have already been selected as series/parallel/single) If you had the K-mod to start you still will have it. I really don't know if volume changes between modes because of the volume controls will be a problem or not. When I questioned this here before, people who have actually done the vol/vol mod told me that they found no interactions like that.

5. since preamp is after the vol/vol setup that should also continue to work as before.

Personally I like to change tone while playing and for that reason favor switches that let you change things with a quick flip rather than trying to "dial things in" on they fly, but still this kind of mod is tweaking my interest. Maybe one day, I'll wire a few changes into my Tribute to see if I'd like something like this and how well it would work.

Thanks, a stacked Volume/Volume is a great idea!
