Just an M2000 with "single coils".
Noticed the "...powered by twin 9v batteries housed in an easy-access compartment". Compared to the '2-screws on a plastic board' design, I am curious to see it.

The MJ-4 looks like a modded Tribby JB-2; both pickups are the same size, unlike a USA JB-2, which was born to get "normal" (which is to say, "different neck and bridge sizes") aftermarket pickups.

Very interesting. Although single coil MFDs (or hum canceling single-ish) would have been my first choice. They already have the JB for those classic alnico tones.

I was watching that on eBay but not willing to take a chance on it. Let us know what kind of shape it's in. It looks like a 1983.

Found this pic in the NAMM thread--anyone else take pics from the G&L booth?

Did you actually read the description?

Perhaps this will help. Bold emphasis is mine:

A G&L Alnico Bi-coil pickup looks just like a classic Alnico single-coil, but under the cover are two side-by-side coils, configured in series-humbucking mode. The new pickups are optimized for a specially tuned version of G&L’s studio-quality M-spec preamp and control system, dubbed MJ-spec.

Thank you, Ken,
Maybe it's different 'under the cover', I would not discuss the details, but it actually looks like an M-2000 with single coils, and this is, I think, intentional.

Just looks like a JB-2 with five knobs to me. The JB-2 has been around for 11 years now, it's nice that they finally offer a suped up version.

I'd like to hear one of these new ones.

The midi setup scares me. With me being in Canada the shipping and tax added on would have been more money than I was comfortable with.

Looks like the LB-100 is back out ?!?!

Also wonder what "Hamitone" sounds like.

No tribute version of the MJ4 is what I hear. Bummer.

Seems only logical after they issued the JB.

Batteries, we don't need no stinking batteries - in a musical instrument.
