The GAS is strong with this one
After a few months of lurking with the occasional comment here or there, I've caught it, GAS. Darn you all not only am I gasssing for a p bass, now I'm gassing for a jazz, 5 stringers, and all things Black and Maple. After graduating undergrad last December, I've started my career a few months ago and have been on a GAS inducing combo of music at work and TB at night.
So I've narrowed down to what I know I like and I have to decide what to pursue first after I sell my Traben array. I'm trying to decide between black n maple Jazz 4 MiM, Squier 77 Jazz, or stick to my original GAS for an elusive black n maple 5 stringer precision. I know aesthetics typically don't matter as much as tone, but since I know all three have good tones that I'm after it does come down to looks. I'm a Fender/ Squier or Musicman/SBMM guy all the way, something about the bridge, neck, body shape that speaks to me. This is not to say companies like GL, Lakland, Carvin, etc don't make good basses, I guess I like what I like. So of the three which would you choose? I've been really playing a lot of various music from Metallica's My Friend of Misery, to Green Day, to Earth wind and Fire, and to my own Solo tracks. So ideally I'd have more than one. Currently I play a SBMM Ray34 stock that I love, just want a passive instrument as well.
