The DR's were too bright for me. Rotosound's too hard on fingers and I read too many threads that they shorten the life of your frets.

IMHO they still give me the attack I'm looking for but also the warmth I need. In my current band (a funky dance rock hybrid thing) I tend to play with thumb (with a tweek of my tone knob) to get roundness I need for some songs and then roll up my tone and play with my fingers for the more rock stuff. I find these strings to be very versatile for my style of playing.

Oh yes, RUSH is now nominated for the Rock n Roll Hall of fame!!! If RUSH gets in and they nominate KISS and they get in, I will have gained my respect back for that organization!!!

Just need KISS and a few other deserving bands that always get passed over!! Guess that is a whole different thread though.
To keep it thread related, I told my Geddy Lee jazz about it and he is very ecstatic about it!!!

I've been playing the Squier Classic Vibe J - and it's fantastic - but I've still been lusting after the glossy maple and blocks on the Geddy neck since I first touched one quite a few years ago. Been thinking more seriously about getting one since they moved production to Mexico and the price dropped. Found this one (MIJ) on CL last night in excellent condition for less than they usually go for here in the classifieds, so I snatched it up this afternoon.
I haven't heard it through my amp yet since that's out at the practice space, but I've run it through my PC and out the monitors and it just sounds beautiful. Exactly like the jazz bass in my head sounds.
Only you people know how badly I can't wait to get out to band practice this week so I can hear this thing at pants-flapping volume.
Now I'm going to disassemble her and fondle every individual part, decide what I think about it, and then put it all back together.
Here's the obligatory crappy cell phone pic - number please!

I have a 04 Black with slight mods its played on every gig.
1.) Push Pull pot for series/parallel..psuedo P Bass
2.) Hipshot D Tuner
3.) Black pickguard
4.) Fully shielded...stock pickups
Strung with Rotosound Swing Rounds...these are one the best jazz basses Fender makes IMO
I am looking for another one (used) as a backup and for D tuning

Just last week I wanted to experiment and I put on some EB hybrids, also .045/.105. I took my bass to rehearsal and although the bass sounded great, I did not like the feel so I'm 97% sure I am going back to the Boomers. FWIW, I agree with your statement on the RotoSounds. I used them on my P-bass and they totally killed both my hands and the frets.
