For a guy of his age you would expect him to be good at bass by now.

However, I'm making this for me. Also, I'd like to present this to Gene when completed. Going with a full scale, neck thru neck may get his attention.
To make it unique, I will go with EMG P & 35DC pickups.
To give it a nod to the original, I will use speed knobs. I'd like to make that illusive 3rd knob a blend rather than using the typical switch he currently uses on his Corts.
This should be a cool build. | Sounds good!
On an unrelated topic, I noticed what appears to be an EAB on standby in a fb pic of your band....are you doing some songs from "unplugged" now?

A Ren Fest came to our area, so we dressed in
KISS themed Ren Faire suits and we did KISS songs acoustic, with Ren lyrics, such as:
Cold Mead
joust Me
God of Plunder
And Rock N Roll All Fortnite

Even the haters interest me because it is almost never "he sucks," it is always some attack on something other than his bass playing and songwriting. Gene was very nice to me when I met him and I think he is part of a the legendary band, KISS. If you suck at music, you couldn't make a forty year career out of music.

That is why I like this one, we can have a good discussion on here about him, his basses and anything else. I agree with your statement.

While he may not be at the level of Stanley, Geddy, Victor. He is a good solid bassist. Listen to the older KISS songs. He plays to serve the song and not to show off. I respect that. I have seen KISS on every tour since Hot in the Shade. He sounds good and has some cool funky grooves on some of the songs.

I think his daughter really got to him and he was upset that he hurt them by cheating on Shannon and wanted to make a change. So he decided to change his ways with counseling. Obviously he was addicted to that lifestyle to be with that many women. He seemes sincere about it wanting to change. Then again maybe it was just all for the tv show. I have no idea, however I would like to think he wanted to make a change. You see there are somethings I look up to him as inspiration for and others that I totally thought was wrong and disagreed with. I respected his work ethic and how he made his American dream happen. I did not respect the other stuff. However I take inspiration from different people for different things.

After seeing the photos of him playing a Precision, I can now say that I get it. He doesn't look right playing a regular instrument.

Never let 'understand the context of the post I'm quoting' get in the way of being over-zealous and patronising though. That seems to be what Talkbass is all about; "I play in a Praise 'n' Worship band, allow me to point out your flaws I perceive them".... ad nauseum.
