Oh that may be it.

Besides what was just listed, should I look at any other tbird pups that have the chrome look?

There are other makers but I like Thunderbuckers best, priced right to. Lull, Lollar and Seymour Duncan come to mind, all much more expensive.

I was front row in '77 directly in front of Gene, I got a real good look a the black Thunderbird, I can guarantee you that the bridge pickup is a stock '76 Thunderbird pickup.

Stock '76 Thunderbird pickups were pretty weak compared to 60's units and the construction was quite different so in general I don't suggest those. If you purchase a Thunderbucker I like the over wound '66 or the MAX. Another idea is to buy a cover off ebay, some guy in I think Gerrmany is selling covers and stuff that with a more modest priced pickup. The Dimarzio model one can be found on ebay for like 50 bucks.

Yeah, I was thinking that the hottest one he offers is what I'd opt for.

Now, does the Epi and Gib use the same size pickup?

For the bolt on neck Epis you may have to do a little routing for the bridge pup. The New Epi bird I think you can drop right in, same for the USA Bird.

I may do that. I like a hot pup in the bridge.

The cover is stamped steel painted black, maybe you could get it chromed, don't know that you can get the cover off the pickup though.

Oh, it's steel? Looks like plastic. That's good.

Wonder if I could strip the finish, and somehow polish the bare metal?

Or should just get the Gotoh version and avoid the hassle?

I did some research and they are a bit more tame then the Artecs (shrugs). All of this mudbucker talk is new to me.
