Genuine Gretsch strap any good for G5123B? Or suggestions!

I did buy one of these beautiful instruments a while back, in spite of a less successful first encounter. (That first bass had a VERY pronounced issue with E-string output which is MUCH better on the one I got now.)

Anyway, that bass is big, a bit neck heavy, has odd strap anchors and is way to special in design to visually match many "off-the-mill" straps.

I see that Thomann has a genuine leather Gretsch strap.

Is it any good for bass? I am worried the bass is too neck heavy to work with that "sliding leather patch on a narrow strap" design. Right now I have a 2.5" (or 3") black leather strap (Planet waves style) with suede inside. It is barely long enough in its outer position.
