(Gibson)Tobias Killer B or MTD Kingston KZ 6

Ok i would really like your guys help. I bought a Gibson 6 string Tobias killer b back in 2005 and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately about two years later i ran into a financial situation and had to sell it. Well im looking to purchase a used one but they seem kinda hard to find. My question is...how is the 6 string mtd kingston in comparison to the Gibson Tobias killer b 6. They seem like they would be similar in play and feel but I just don't know. Anyone with hands on experience with both of these basses please let me know which is better. If i have too i will wait and keep looking for a killer b but if there isn't a huge difference i could go ahead and get the Kingston since there so easy to come by. Thanks and I look forward to hearing what you guys think.

Ok...So any feedback on the kz 6 even if you haven't played a Tobias? Are they well made? Thanks.

No experience with the MTD Kingston KZ 6, but based upon my experience with Tobias, you'd be hard pressed to beat it, IMO.

I will forever consider the most attractive part of Michael Tobias' work to be within the original Tobias design. I just can't warm up to an MTD, no matter how much I try.

I just searched Tobias Killer B, and for 6 strings. Lots of controversy it seems over the Gibson made, and MTD, and other stuff. What's the straight dope? Are these still being made (Killer B"s that is)? If so are they a decent option for bolt on? I'm leaning toward t Carvin Icon 6. But the Killer B used ones look like they're of roughly similar specs etc. The difference being the Carvin can be built for about the same price and you get neck-through...and can choose the woods etc. But love the look of the Killer B.

I don't think any Tobias basses are being made, atm. It took Gibson a while to drive the last nail into the Tobias coffin, but the Toby series finally did it. So if you want new, no luck there.

I know there are some beautiful Carvins out there, but a good Tobias is unbeatable. If it were me, I'd hold out for a Killer B, or any other USA made Tobias over a Carvin, even though I've read about some crappy ones that were produced at the Gibson/Nashville factory. Therefore, (always) try before you buy.
