Was given a free bass today!

Was at a rehearsal with a band I joined last month and the guitarist pointed to a bass hanging on the wall and said "if you want that bass take it home, otherwise I'm going to toss it."
How could I possibly refuse? :D
It is a Jay Turser P-Bass with P/J pickups. I have no idea what model, as I cannot find any Turser Ps with the P/J configuration. It appears to have been a discontinued model.
Definitely needs some work as it appears to have been sitting for a while. Tuners are very stiff and the E tuner is almost unturnable. Pots are very scratchy. Strings are shot.
Prior to my joining the group the guitarist had been trying to teach someone to play bass so he put little stickies along the fretboard showing where each note is located. Ugly as they are, I'm almost torn as to whether to remove them or keep it the way it is to teach someone else LOL!
Despite everything I was able to tune it up and it plays pretty decent. Neck is straight. All in all nothing a little TLC and maybe some new tuners couldn't fix :bassist:
