Got a killer deal on a vintage 1975 Fender Jazz today at GC

I got this beat to hell, super mojo jazz bass today at Guitar Center for $1199! It's all original minus a brass nut and a replacement tuner. Sounds killer and looks way cooler in person :bassist: Guitar Center isn't exactly known for stellar photography ;)

i saw the other thread about this one..

i love it. looks like it's been played a lot- always a good sign. (or beat to hell... either way, looks nice!)

enjoy

There's another thread? Cool. It sounds fantastic and has the snap and sustain you'd expect from an older instrument. I dig it :bassist:

The wear pattern on it almost looks like someone sweat on it for years and it literally just melted the finish off.

yeah.someone was questioning whether it was a good deal or not. that bass was sure not to last!

gordon5377 01-29-2013 02:34 PM

That neck alone is worth every penny you paid for the entire bass. Awesome find! I'm extremely jealous that I can never find something cool like that at my local GC or pawn shops.

:bawl:

It's a pretty amazing deal unless you want to play a collectors piece that looks new :eyebrow: I like not having to worry about belt rash, bumps, scratches, etc ;)

i got a 74 jazz from gc for 600 bucks a little over a year ago. love that place!

A-Step-Towards 01-29-2013 02:43 PM

Nice bass, did it come with a similar vintage case?

No case, but I already had an extra vintage tweed one.

Damn! Really? Any pics? They must've not known? Hehe..

mjac28 01-29-2013 02:48 PM

Nice bass congrats

godofthunder59 01-29-2013 02:50 PM

That's awesome! Yeah GC can put up some crazy prices on vintage stuff. A couple of years ago I got a Unbroken 77 Thunderbird for $800 bucks! Then there is my Fretless '75 P bass for 350. To be fair the body was Ibanez but the neck and tuners legit 70's Fender. Ya done good!

cybersnyder 01-29-2013 02:50 PM

I saw that when I was there on Sunday. Congrats!

basswave 01-29-2013 02:50 PM

Good deal

somebody had sanded the decal off the headstock and replaced it with a 62 ri decal. after a re-decal it looks totally legit!
after the new decal

its the one in the middle

i was tempted to buy the one you just bought buy i have ash maple jazzes coming out of my ears!

A-Step-Towards 01-29-2013 03:37 PM

I had a '74 P bass in natural and the finish did something similar in style to yours. I was tempted to buy this Jazz as well but I have a '76 that looks identical.

matti777 01-29-2013 03:45 PM

Smokin deal IMHO. I love the well worn old jazzes. I can't believe a store like GC would price something like that so low and that it lasted so long. I was at another GC last week and they wanted $1800 for a 72 pbass with flat frets.

noermaen 01-29-2013 03:49 PM

awesome looking bass! this is the real deal, this or new basses - but not that "road worn" hype with new basses...
