Gretsch Junior Jet bass...

Hello there! First time poster, regular lurker.

I've just decided to buy my first (short or long scale) bass, and with the price of this single pickup Junior Jet being only £200 WITH a Danelectro tuner/metronome and shipping, i decided to pull the trigger on it... after a mosey around here, that is.

From what I've been able to find, this bass has a good reputation on the whole, but I'm still curious, please can you give me your experiences of this instrument?

Thank you,
Philip

I have the black one. Its my main bass when I play agressive stuff.

Not best bass I have ever owned but for the price (paid mine 200$ with hardshell case, 10$ worth of pick and a set of spare string (I bought an old demo)) I paid, I could't be more happy.

Only thing that really bother me it is the cheap bridge.

I have a friend with one of the early models (bigger headstock, otherwise the same I think)

Very hot pickup. Lots of fun to play.

Enjoy it.

I've been gigging with one recently as my main bass, it's that good. Get some flatwounds on it and you'll be thumping away in no time. It sits really well in the mix and sounds fantastic.

that's the plan. i spotted some rotosound nylon flatwounds that fit the short scale basses...gonna buy a set after i've given the stock strings a chance.

I absolutely love the 2202, which is the predecessor of this model. Well put together, light, balances well, and the pickup is a KILLER. I've put the same pickup into a Bronco and it became my go-to short scale bass.

Flatwounds, my man....use flatwounds.

+1 to all of that - the 2202 is a great shortie. Pickup is hot.

Has anyone tried both this and the 2202? How do the pickups compare?
