| | | Here is the infamous "Custom Made For Alec John Such" Guild Pilot. It's a '87 also. Not sure what the body was made of on this one, it was a custom bass given to Alec. It was a heavy bass so I doubt it was poplar. It has green L.E.D.'s in the neck! I owned this for 7 years till I sold it to pay the house payment. It appraised at $3500.00 by Gruhn. I am planning on getting her back soon!

So I took mine out. Man these were sweet. Making me reconsider everything. Just perfect to play and the neck is great!

As far as handing out numbers. I don't think I've done that in about 5 years. Weird this thread has stuck around this long. I'm a sucker for pilots I love them all!!

The unicorn in the pilot world the advanced 905. And I just picked up one of the last pilots ever made. The serial number is higher than the last one on the Guild site it also has a sweet mahoghany body. Ill post a family pic once I can get them all in one place.

It's currently at my friends house getting a face lift, new hardware and electronics. Ill have the mahoghany beast tonight hopefully if my other friend drops it off. Ill get a few pics of that up later.

It looks like a guild pro4 which is what fender turned the pilots into when they bought guild. It has a serial number 30 numbers past what the guild site had for their last pilot number. It has aero pickups and a Nordstrand pre in her.

They pick up every little thing u do to the strings. I never really liked the way the old emg's sounded in the pilots. They didn't have enough articulation for me.

| | | | Just bought a Guild Pilot and it came with EMG looking pickups but no battery inside.
Did they ever make one without active EMGs. Serial # is BE104215 |

I just answered this question for you over on the "Let's Talk Guild" forum but I'll answer it here again for all the Guild Talkbass fans.
Guild made a model SB-600 Pilot bass with passive DiMarzio pick-ups that look just like the EMG's minus the logo and also as you noted, there's no battery. If you pull out one of the "P" pick-ups and pry the plastic cover off the coil, inside the cover it should say "DiMarzio".
I have one that I gig with since it's nice and thumpy for the classic rock we play and I never have to worry about remembering to unplug it between sets so I don't kill the battery! | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
