set up

Here's my set up right now. In addition to the new bass I got a used Orange Crush 35B amp for about $150. It has a good sound and more than powerful for a under 50Watt bass amp. those are all boss pedals. I have my bass and electric guitar plugged into the orange/red loop pedal, made some real cool recordings last night.

As far as bass playing goes, I've been mixing it up between fingerstyle, picking, and slapping and popping. I like fingerstyle a bit better than picking, mostly bc I don't like the added sound that picking causes (although when I want to play faster my picking skills come in handy as I'm a little slow on fingerstyle) I'm getting the slapping down pretty well but I can't seem to get the same slapping sound out of my "A" string as I do on my "E" string- I'm assuming I just need more practice. All in all I'm loving the bass and have no regrets on my purchase.

I'm heading out at lunch today to pick up a boss bass synth (SYB-5) pedal, and also a Boss EV-5 expression pedal.

Congrats. Personally I think you got yourself a bass that you'll enjoy for a long time. P basses,IMO, are about the best all around most useful bass out there. I have yet to hear a genre of modern music that utilizes bass guitar that a P-bass doesn't fit like a glove.

Oooh, a Blacktop Precision! Very nice!!

I haven't had a chance to try one of those out, only it's sister Jazz. That thing was BEEFY! I can't wait to do a side-by-side comparison.

Congrats and good luck! I hope it serves you well.

I posted something in the effects forum bc of some issues I'm having with the first bass pedal I picked up. If you have any input please click the link which will direct you to the question I posted. And yes I know this is not the effects forum!!
