First up, my Leduc U.Bass (lined fretless):
Here's my "micro rig of doom." Steinberger Synapse with G-K 200MB combo:
This next one I (very stupidly!) sold a couple of years back. Here's me playing my gorgeous '88 Steinberger XM-2 with original HAZ Labs electronics:
Finally, another one I sold a few years ago. A 1st generation, ash-bodied Steinberger XQ-5 with upgraded EMG electronics:
The Leduc is a keeper. Phenomenal, woody fretless tone. |

I never liked the look of the headless and bodyless steinbergers, but these axstars and the zon that looks similar strike this awesome balance, a little skinnier than your standard bass but with just enough body.
Any comments of what the ibanez sounds like? I'm sure I won't be affording a Zon anytime soon! |

MX | Hey...I tried the link but it didn't work. LOL (UPDATE: I just tried it again and it worked...never mind, will enjoy reading about this one!)
I'd actually love to put something similar together, but with a graphite neck (Moses, probably), the bridge pickup REALLY close to the bridge, the neck pickup REALLY close to the neck, and an EQ for each pickup (connected to one output jack though). I really like the smaller but rounded non-broomstick body. That is one fabulous looking instrument you have, and I'm sure it sounds and plays just as good as it looks. Really nice work!
I need to post some pics of my two Steinberger Synapses. May I join the club guys, or do I have to give you picture proof first?
Cheers,
Dave

Dave | Sorry, something is weird with my web hosting of the pictures. The photos don't show up on the first page, but do on all the others.
I still play this bass as my everyday player. I pulled the neck off over the holiday break and refinished it. I had tried a polycrylic finish on the neck that didn't work too well. It reacted with the rubber padding on the guitar stand and the oils from my hands. So I sanded/scraped the finish off, then sanded down to 600 grit until it was glass-smooth, then put on a polyurethane finish, same as the body. Looks, sounds, and feels great again! |
