Headstock vs Wall

How many of you guys have your bass' headstock banged hard on your wall or door?

I just got my Fender Jazz banged on the wall pretty hard by accident, have a small dent on the headstock.

Will this cause damage to my neck/truss of my Fender Jazz?

Thanks

Sorry to hear that. Just tune it up, play it & see if it's still getting it done.

Dents & dings suck when they happen. But, it you ain't takin' flak, you ain't over the target.

There was a post not too long ago about a bass that played much better right after it was dropped on it's neck.

If it's not cracked, you should be fine.

I remember seeing that LOL it sucks sorry to hear that I hate any ding or dent or scratch it drives me insane you should be alright.

No crack on neck no the headstock

But a small dent and some poly finish blemishes at the tip of the headstock where it hit the wall

Not to mention my Fender Jazz is one a week and half old.

Guy got a lot of calls to drop it from higher, iirc. Did he end up doing that?

It took about 6 years to ding my 2002 on the headstock. Didn't feel any better...that long & still very fine until...

Headstock met drummer's cymbal. Grunt.

Our new practice space has a ceiling fan and within the first couple of weeks as I was taking off my bass from my shoulder I would hit the head on the fan. Now I have a couple of chips in the wood as a result. Learned my lesson after about the third one. :crying:

Whoa
Headstock vs fan

ugly_bassplayer 01-05-2013 05:45 PM

Lead singer made my bass fall from it's stand straight on the side rim of the bass drum.
Headstock has had a dent in it ever since. Looks like a crack but it isn't.

Didn't the Clash do a remake of this song?

I fought the wall,
and the wall won....

So I took out my frustrations on the floor. Oops.

Meh.... My 1974 P fell over a couple of hours ago in my basement (honestly!) as I went upstairs for a minute. Fell over as I got to the top of the stairs.... And I didn't even bother to look.

Slid off my cab, hit the all and face planted on the carpet. Damage? The D string was out of tune by a tone bit.

Of it was a Gibson, I would have been worried.... Or my MTD!

Stuff happens in any case!

:D I've hit a few ceiling fans with headstocks over the years also...

mmx6 01-05-2013 10:08 PM

Lol

Looks like there is really no point to make my Bass shiny and clean.

I guess the wear look and dings are great o show that it is actually being used

Dirty Ray of Bret Michaels Band takes the cake here. He lost the war with a ceiling fan.

The Fender Jazz is one durable bass. I'm not saying you should PURPOSELY cause it pain, nor am I saying one shouldn't be careful, but what I am saying is that you can really beat the living crap out of those things, and they will probably be fine.

It is rumored that if my 12-string Ovation acoustic hits the ground, the headstock will snap off, making the guitar into a piece of instant junk.

I am hoping that never happens.

As for my Jazz?

All I can say is, those things really do have LONG necks.

D'oh!

mmx6 01-06-2013 12:58 AM

Long necks indeed

I hit the door when I got my Fender Jazz a week ago but no damage

Yesterday I slam the Jazz headstock to the wall pretty hard, the wall was dented and my Jazz is scraped and minor dinged

chiron_griffin 01-06-2013 01:17 AM

I have a slanted ceiling and I keep forgetting that I rearranged my jam room with my bass cab in the low part of the room. a few dings later and there is no real damage to speak of.

No crack on neck no the headstock

I've seen more bent key shafts on tuning heads than any other damage from headstock impacts. You can feel this as the tuning key binding at some position in its rotation.
