Help with the bass quest (Passive/Active Jazz)
So I'm looking for a bass with a smooth Jazz style neck that is:
not an anchor (over 10 lb would be a bit much)
decent access to the higher frets
versatile (I play jazz, rock, funk, etc.)
won't put me in debt forever (I can maybe swing a bass that's around $900, more if I sell my Pearl kit)
I'm curious about a 5-stringer, but I'm primarily looking for 4-strings
suggestions for good basses that I can get used are more than welcome
I was just writing about my interest in trying out a Reggie Hamilton Jazz on another thread mere minutes ago. Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to hold or try one out, but there's a whole thread devoted to them.
Based on your criteria, here's some points about it that might interest you;
As far as weight or fret-access go…I can't say, but it' probably weighs/functions the same as any Fender Jazz bass. I hope this helps out.
G&L L2000 will do all of those styles and meet your requirements
