With the left over money, I think i should get a new amp. Any reccomendations on a good practice combo? I'll just be using it in my room, playing for myself so it doesn't have to be really big or have a lot of watts, I just want it to sound good.

I bought a Fender BXR 15watt combo many years ago with the same idea of a practice amp. Unfortunately, that was all it could do.
If you got an SWR Workingman's 12 or 15, it would defintely get you what you need, plus you have the ability to play with others. You can find a lot of these used.
I own a SWR Workingman's 10. I like it, but it struggles against a guitarist and drummer.
I think Hartke and GK make budget-minded combos as well.

With its P/J pickup configuration you will be able to cop many different tones.
For $130, I can't think of many more solid choices as your first bass...and i even like the color
