most of the people who call a Dean Bass crap, are usually just saying that because...A.. they have never played one, and B... have heard it from other people, who heard it from other people who have never played one. they do make alot of starter bassed, but the quality in those, are still very good. i play shows with one, and it keeps me happy, and you can always change the pickups in it, to make a more "original custom" tone, and it will be a very fine quality bass. i love dean. they are one of my 2 favorites. who ever told you they are crap, tell them to play one first.

A Sh*tty bass is usually just a good+ bass with a poor setup, or owner that has no idea what they're holding.

I recently flipped a Matsumoku Vantage that I bought for $80. It played & looked like garbage when I got it. I cleaned it, set it up nicely & flipped it for $180.

Dean makes decent products. I'm not a huge fan of some of their newer products, but I've seen some great basses in the past.

I can tell you Dean does build really good basses. I had the opportunity to play a newer Dean bass recently and it was almost as good as my early '80s handmade B. C. Rich Bich bass. The Pacific era instruments were hit and miss. Kind of like a Squire. You can pick up one and it is crap the next one is a jem.

Don't worry about what other people think about your bass. Everyone has biases as do I. I like Dean instruments because of 2 early '80s guitars I have that are both jems. As long as it feels good to you and it speaks with the voice you like, that is all that matters.

Yeah!, far as I know this one is a Dean DB 91. after playing it I must say that its a kick ass one, excellent for either rock/metal/punk/sleaze whatever!, pretty preeeeeetty decent.
