I'm really down with the cut, feel and tonal options. This will be my first new bass purchase in a while (vs. used). I know this sounds very superficial, but I am dying to get one in the three tone sunburst finish. That finish is backordered for @ three months everywhere.
So this is my question - have you ever had to get a finish, or other slight variance, on a bass that you were not immediately in love with? Did that eventually go away or did you always want to get your hands on what you wanted originally? Again, I know its a stupid, superficial thing, but thanks for humoring me. |

| | | | meh, I've always preferred feel and tone over looks, but when it came time to buy my Yamaha I just picked Vintage White as the colour, no regrets there |

Ignore others opinions regarding color if they differ from yours-they can buy their own. |

But for some reason I liked the look of that on a Reggie Hamilton Standard Jazz which doesn't look all that different from other Jazz bases so that makes no sense except perhaps that the picture on the Fender web site was a particularly good one. Don't know but I ordered one anyway, had to wait 6 weeks to get it, and I could not be happier with it.

But, not matter what, keep playing whatever bass you have, or whatever one will get you through the time til you have the one you want.

Mmmm, Sunburst.
I also do not like the tort pick guard. This one now sports a pearloid white pick guard.
Wait for what you want and make it in to what you want. I think it's better to have what you want instead of buying and selling basses that you really don't like.
I was hesitant to modify this bass for years except for the pick guard. I got GAS really bad and was about to trade this one and another bass for something different.
The guys at the Bass Place gave me a few ideas and now I have Bartolini pick ups and a John East preamp in it.
Problem solved.
But I really would like a maple neck and fret board.........

| | | | I wanted a sunburst/rosewood P'bass for years, and it was fun shopping around and weighing the options between different brands and models. Active, passive, p/j, four/five strings, ect.. But one thing remained without variation; it had to be 3T sunburst/rosewood. |
